ABOUT THE PROGRAMME
Earlier in October 2016, we celebrated the launch of the Arts Gymnasium project. The project, supported by Esmée Fairbairn Foundation, is working in partnership with the Belgrade Theatre, Age UK Coventry and Coventry University. The project uses theatre and arts activities to contribute to the quality of life and positive well-being of people living in Coventry.
SHINE ON – BELGRADE THEATRE
Shine On is an opportunity to share stories through participanting through a variety of drama activities. Shine On has been in existence since 2012 and has done many workshopd and activities in community settings, along with performances at local events and festivals.
REACHING OUT – WILLENHALL & EARLSDON
Reaching Out is a drama group that focuses on working with those who are isolated and from less arts-engaged communities within the city, promoting positive well-being and connectivity within Coventry.
LIVING WELL – BELGRADE THEATRE
Living Well is a drama group tailored to meet the needs of people that live with memory impairments and/or early stage dementia.
From January 2017 to June 2017, Disruptive Media Learning Lab took on 5 work placement students from Coventry University specialising in photography, video production and music to capture the participants’ life in the sessions in a documentary format. The students range from Year 1 Media Production to MA level studying Media and Communications. They all have showcased their pieces at the Albany Theatre as a screening and exhibition space.
